The bank has given a statement to the media regarding the major actions taken in connection with the problem.
The President of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Abe Sano, in his statement stated that 801 million Birr was taken illegally due to the problems faced by the bank.
However, they announced that 9,200 of those involved in the case voluntarily returned the money they had taken. In this way, 223 million 475 thousand 369 Birr were returned.
Apart from this, 5 thousand 160 individuals also partially returned the 148 million 21 thousand 191 birr they took voluntarily.
In the first step, 44 million 668 thousand 232 money was returned from the spent money.
It was also pointed out that the bank was able to recover about 78 percent of the total money spent.
Among the individuals who took the money, 567 people have not been found, the president said, adding that their identity will be posted on the social website of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia from today.
