It has been announced that since the construction of the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam has been started, more than 18 billion 973 million 822 thousand Birr has been collected.
The office of the National Council for Coordination of Public Participation in the Construction of the Dam has announced that the income has been collected from various sections of society for the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, which is 13 days away from its construction.
Public Relations Director of the Office, Haileu Abraham, during his meeting with Addis Walta Digital Media, stated that the community has continued to strengthen its support for the construction of the dam through various revenue collection methods and that the community has been participating in the process so far.
He said that the office has collected 743 million 487 thousand 159 birr in the seven months from July to January 30/2016.
He pointed out that this is the income collected through bond purchases and gifts as well as 8100 A short text messages.
The director recalled that the project officials had informed that the construction of the dam would be completed in the next 7 months.
He pointed out that the construction of the dam is a big project built by the collective unity of Ethiopians to withstand various influences and stated that it is being done in an effort to pass on a prosperous and developed country to the future generation.
He also indicated that the construction of the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam has reached 95 percent.
